St Mary's Lighthouse 70cms x 70cms

Another new painting - St Mary's Lighthouse

In an unlikely setting just north of Whitley Bay on the north east coast of England, St Mary's Island and its crowning lighthouse can be an enchanting spot and all the better for being so unexpected. I've painted it three times now and I'm sure I'll paint it many more; I love the clarity of light here and the scale of the landscape.

  3. I love paintings that make me want to touch them! But I have no idea how you create this effect - is it painted using a brush?

By the way, I hope you stumble upon a fishwife who shares your passion for this rather lovely spot...

  4. I mostly just chuck paint around and hope some of it sticks in the right places Susan!

Ha ha - I'm not sure I could cope with the fishwife mitherin' on in such a peaceful spot.
